Abstract

Mn-doped MgO nanoparticles (8 nm crystalline size) were synthesized using a simple soft chemical method. Their antibacterial activity against both gram-positive and gram-negative pathogens was evaluated using MIC, live count, and agar cup assays. The AC conductivity and dielectric properties were measured at different temperatures, and the charge transport mechanism was investigated using the CBH model.Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) revealed cell wall disruption in pathogens treated with Mn-doped MgO nanoparticles. Antibacterial activity increased with nanoparticle concentration. These nanomaterials show promise as antibacterial agents for medical applications, pending successful in vivo trials.
